Who is Asake ?

Ahmed Ololade (born 13 January 1996) is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer and composer better known as Asake, Ololade Mi Asake, and Mr Money. He has deals with YBNL Nation and Empire Distribution. His stage name is a tribute to his mother, whose given name is Asake.

Early Life & Education

He is from Nigeria’s South West area and belongs to the Yoruba ethnic group. He was born and reared in Lagos, Nigeria, alongside his family. He was raised in a Muslim home and was raised in the same faith. His father was an entrepreneur, and his mother was a teacher when he was growing up. As a dancer, Asake started his career in the arts. He loved to dance as a child and was extremely excellent at it. He specialized in cultural dance, spending his spare time performing a dance in order to better his technique. He performed at school functions as a high school student, delighting his classmates and faculty members with enthusiastic traditional dances. His moniker, Asake, came from his dancing.

A month later, “Sungba,” the EP’s second single, was remixed with a verse by Nigerian singer Burna Boy. Asake struck a distribution agreement with Empire in July 2022.

On September 8, 2022, Asake published his debut studio album Mr. Money with the Vibe, seven months after the release of his debut EP. Hit hits from the album were “Terminator,” “Peace Be Unto You,” and the “Sungba” remix featuring Burna Boy. The album gained widespread acclaim from fans in Nigeria and throughout the world, and it went on to shatter multiple records worldwide. Asake launched his global tour in 2022, selling out London’s O2 Academy Brixton.

Asake was born in Lagos on Friday, January 13, 1995, as Ahmed Ololade Asake. His parents are Muslims from Nigeria’s south-western region. His father was a businessman, while his mother was a teacher.
